Airport International Group Foundation (AIGF) has been recognized with two prestigious regional awards in acknowledgment of its sustained contributions to sustainable development and social responsibility within the communities surrounding Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA).
AIGF is the philanthropic arm of Airport International Group (AIG), whose founding shareholders include Edgo, the recipient of the Build-Operate-Transfer concession for Queen Alia International Airport in 2007. Edgo’s CEO, Omar M. Masri, also serves as Chairman of AIGF, ensuring strong governance oversight and alignment between the Foundation’s social impact initiatives and the airport’s long-term development objectives.
These achievements reflect the maturity and effectiveness of AIGF’s operating model, as well as its alignment with long-term national and community development priorities. AIGF received the Sustainability Innovation Award at the Aviation Innovation Awards 2025, presented by MEA Business and MEA Finance, in recognition of its structured, outcomes-driven approach to designing and implementing programs that deliver measurable, long-term socioeconomic impact. The award highlighted AIGF’s integrated sustainability framework, encompassing youth empowerment, community development, and environmental stewardship, in line with international best practices.
In a second regional achievement, AIGF was highly commended for Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year at the Aviation Business Middle East Awards 2025, in recognition of the demonstrable impact of its Hirfati Training Center in the town of Al Jizah. Established in 2019, the center delivers market-relevant vocational training and sustainable livelihood pathways for communities in the vicinity of Queen Alia International Airport. As of October 2025, 694 young men and women have graduated from AIGF-supported training programs.
Commenting on the recognition, AIGF Chairman Omar M. Masri stated: “These regional recognitions reflect the collective impact of our programs, teams, and partnerships, and reaffirm our belief that sustainable development starts with empowering people. By investing in skills, opportunity, and confidence, we enable individuals and communities to actively shape their own futures. We are proud of what has been achieved to date and remain committed to scaling our impact in the years ahead.”
The Foundation’s impact is further validated by its 2023–2025 Impact Assessment Report, prepared by a specialist firm, which recorded improved employment outcomes, increased entrepreneurial activity, higher female participation, and expanded outreach across 12 surrounding villages. Together, these results position AIGF as a regional reference point for structured, evidence-based social impact programming within the aviation sector.
In parallel, AIGF continues to strengthen its governance and sustainability performance. In 2024, the Foundation maintained its ‘AAA’ ESG rating, the highest classification awarded by ESG Score, a leading European extra-financial rating agency, while improving its overall score to 93 out of 100.
