Abdali welcomes HSBC bank to the new downtown project of Amman

HSBC recently announced its decision to open a branch at the new Abdali Downtown, Amman, Jordan. The announcement was made following a signing ceremony with HSBC’s CEO, Karen Adams. The agreement with HSBC provides a long-term lease for both retail and back office space.

Masri, Vice Chairman of the Edgo Group during the signing ceremony.The Atrium building, strategically located at the heart of the new Abdali Downtown project, provides easy and efficient access from all directions and is a short walk from the Downtown's main shopping centres, the Boulevard and the Central Market Place. These two developments represent a focal point within the new Abdali Downtown project, combining elements of indoor and outdoor entertainment, shopping and luxury living.

Omar M. Masri, Vice Chairman of the Edgo Group commented: 'We are proud to welcome an anchor tenant such as HSBC. The bank has been operating successfully in Jordan since 1949 and its decision to expand into the Abdali project is a clear sign that our offering is a credible one. The Abdali project is well positioned to emerge as a major commercial hub in the region, this being asserted by HSBC's move for a new branch there.'

The first phase of the new Abdali Downtown project, which offers a built up area of around one million square metres has been sold completely to individual developers who have, in turn, already sold a significant number of units, both residential and commercial, to end users. Participation in the Economic and Financial Forum for the Mediterranean

  

Munib R Masri and Mazen Masri participated in The Economic and Financial Forum for the Mediterranean which took place in Milan, Italy on 20 and 21 July.

The opening speech was delivered by Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi followed by speeches from Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak and French Minister Christine Lagarde (the two countries currently holding the rotating presidency of the MU) together with Sweden's Deputy Premier, Maud Olofsson representing the presidency of the EU. Notable political and business figures who attended the event included Chekib Khelil, Algerian Minister for Energy and Mines, Paolo Scaroni, CEO of Eni SpA, Sameh Fahmy, the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mohamed Meziane, President of Sonatrach.

Munib R Masri was one of the key note speakers at the event where the topics under discussion included Energy, Infrastructure and support of Small and Medium sized business in the region. These topics, together with the objective of achieving the planned free trade area, are key to the development of the euro-med economy

The principal aim of the forum is the gradual integration of the Euro-Mediterranean area and the event is organised for informal and open dialogue. It is also intended to promote and support extensive projects and initiatives, with the help of the world of finance and business.
