Munib R Masri is a trustee of the American University of Beirut. The University, which offers its 6,900 students a high quality education, is committed to critical thinking and open debate and is accessible by all students without regard to race, religion, gender or economic status.
In recent years, Munib R. Masri has made two multimillion-dollar donations to the university to fund the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture’s Petroleum Engineering and Energy Studies Initiative. This will be an undergraduate programme leading to a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Petroleum Engineering. In time it is hoped to initiate a complementary and/or independent graduate programme leading to a Master of Science degree with a Major in Petroleum and Energy Studies. This programme has been so well received that it is being replicated and twinned with similar projects in Palestine and Jordan, leading to further donations by Mr Masri.
